Once Upon a Moonlit Garden
I confess to being more fond of the sickle moon than Luna in all her fullness. However, a winter full moon so bright it lights the garden is a treat to be celebrated.
Was I outside in my winter coat and jammies? You betcha. The bold, strong lines of tree shadows in the winter silveriness of moonlight is to be soaked in and marveled at. You deserve to pause, breathe, and if lucky, grab a photo.
This is the multi-stem China Snow lilac and its shadows remind me of the line art used to represent trees in landscape design. While I may not be pruning it completely by the book, this dark imprint against the snow tells me I’m doing something right. How deeply mystical are the tangled branches of trees in winter moonlight?!
I hope you were able to peek out the windows or slip into your boots for a midnight wander of a spooky, moon-haunted garden.
And then Mother Nature shrugs off that snow and gives us an illusive glimpse of the spring to come. Hello, wee snowdrops!
